Kuirau Park Rotorua NZ Review: Free Geothermal Foot Baths for Everyone!

Kuirau Park in Rotorua was where we visited after our quick pit-stop at BREW Craft Beer Pub at EAT STREAT. We had heard about the free geothermal foot baths at Kuirau Park in Rotorua and we decided to head over for quick soak this evening…

We read online that that Kuirau Park had recently re-located the free foot bath to a new area within the park. Hence, we were looking around the park and actually stumbled upon the old food bath before eventually found the newly renovated free foot bath near to the playground. If you find yourselves walking towards hot spring pools like the photo shown above, you’re heading in the wrong direction – although it is quite cool to take a couple of photos if you really walked too far away like us 😂

There are 2 foot bath pools at Kuirau Park after the renovation. One is located outdoors and the other has a shelter – which means that free foot bath continues even during a rain fall. We tried the temperatures of both pools and they were pretty much the same. Hence, we chose to sit outdoors since the weather was nice and cool this evening.

The free foot baths are rather nice. As we sat down, there were other locals who joined us as well. Hence, it became more like a communal experience where locals can meet up, soak your foot and catch up on the day’s happenings. Cool huh?

The only not so cool thing about the free foot bath at Kuirau Park is that there isn’t a washing point nearby to wash our feet. The toilet is still located at the old foot bath which is a short walk away. Otherwise, if you’re headed here, be in your slippers / flip-flops and you’ll be fine. Enjoy the free foot bath at Kuirau Park Rotorua!
