Georgia Aquarium is one of 3 attractions that you can visit at Pemberton Place, Atlanta Georgia. Here, you’ll also be able to find World of Coca Cola as well as the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. Thanks to the great folks at Discover Atlanta, we had the CityPass which allowed us to visit all three attractions. This time, we started our day at Georgia Aquarium…
Entry to Georgia Aquarium was a breeze with the CityPass. We could just walk all the way into the aquarium without the need to visit the ticketing kiosks and we just to flash our QR code to the staff. That was it. Upon entry, we were first greeted by the colourful jelly fish before entering into the main area of the Georgia Aquarium…
Where We Visited at Georgia Aquarium Atlanta
Dolphin Coast
After entering the Aquarium, we asked the reception for the shows of the day and were asked to scan the QR code to make reservations for the Sea Lion show at 10:15am. As there was no dolphin shows for the day, we stopped by at Dolphin Coast to say a good morning to the dolphins this time.
Cold Water Quest
We then headed to Coldwater Quest where we got to see the African Penguins up close. Then it was the Beluga, who finally came out to play. The staff gave them a blue silk cloth of sorts and you could see the belugas tossing it about playfully in the waters. A really cool sight!
Sharks! Predators of the Deep
The Sharks! Predators of the Deep is probably our favourite area of the aquarium. Here, you’ll be able to see the various kinds of shark and you’ll also be able to see the fish that forms a “tornado”. Watch them scatter when a shark or two comes in to pick at the edges of the “tornado”.
Ocean Voyager
Of course, our favourite area in Georgia Aquarium is definitely Ocean Voyager. Here, you’ll be able to see all the giant sea creatures such as the manta rays and turtles, living in harmony with the Whale Shark! Spending time, sitting at the largest viewing tank at Georgia Aquarium is one of our favourite activity in Georgia Aquarium.
River Scout
Tropical Diver
Tropical Diver zone is an interesting area for us because they have live piranhas in the aquarium! It is quite surreal to come face to face with these fearsome creatures of the Amazon!
Gator Crossing
At level 2, you’ll first walk past the touch pools where kids can interact with the stingray and star fish exhibited here. Moving further at Gator Crossing, you’ll find a beautifully decorated zone that imitates wooden huts of the south. You’ll also see the ramp and tub where an alligator or two could be chilling out!
At 10am, we headed to Truist Pier 225 to catch the Sea Lion show. As it was off peak, our reservations made earlier were not checked. Do note that video and photography are not allowed during the presentation. We thoroughly enjoyed the show because it combines a radio programme known as FM22.5, The Fin. The sea lions were also soooo cute! You could see them dancing together with the trainers and clapping, jumping along to their instructions.
Coastline Cafe
To round up our visit of Georgia Aquarium, we headed to Coastline Aquarium to have a quick snack. This time, we shared the Global Grain Bowl with grilled chicken ($16.95). It was freshly-made with tasty quinoa and corns along with a beautifully grilled piece of chicken and a tasty sauce – yum!

All in all, we had a great time in Georgia Aquarium. Having been to the S.E.A Aquarium, Monterey Bay Aquarium as well as the Lost Chambers Aquarium in Dubai, we think that Georgia Aquarium can definitely rank among one of the top aquariums in the world. The variety of sea creatures on display were extensive and we love that no details were spared as the aquarium catered to the displays at each zone. Of course, the viewing gallery at Ocean Voyager was our favourite as well. Watching the manta rays and Whale Shark swimming about effortlessly in the waters was such a joy. If you’re wondering where to head to during your next visit to Atlanta, consider Georgia Aquarium – definitely a treat for the young ones and entire family!
