[Updated 2022] Ambassador Transit Lounge Review: Airport Lounge @ Changi Airport Terminal 2

Ambassador Transit Lounge Terminal 2 Singapore Changi Airport Review

During our recent trip to Vietnam, we decided to stop by Ambassador Transit Lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 2 – just to see if anything has changed or that the offerings have improved. Unfortunately, it has not and here’s why

There hasn’t been any big change for the interior of Ambassador Transit Lounge. We did notice however that there is now a robot deployed in the lounge to assist with the clearing of plates and glasses. Guests would just have to place them on the robot as it moves close to your vicinity.

The other (only) good thing about Ambassador Transit Lounge at Terminal 2 is that there is a smoking point right next to it. Probably one of the most convenient lounge at Changi Airport for smokers transiting through here. However, that’s where the good part ends…

Unlike the Ambassador Transit Lounge at T3, we didn’t receive a coupon for exchange of alcoholic beverages during our visit here. Previously when we visited the Ambassador Transit Lounge at T3, there was still at least the option of having 2 alcoholic beverages with 2 vouchers given upon entry into the lounge. There wasn’t such an option at T2’s Ambassador Transit Lounge.

The food options both in terms of the taste and quantity department, were found to be lacking. When we arrived, there were simply insufficient food in the serving trays of the buffet counters. Hence, it didn’t make sense to take pictures of empty food trays…or perhaps we should next time? 🤔 Eventually when the spaghetti was topped up, it came up to be blend, not worth the calories at all. The only option that was favourable to us was the mee rebus. It tasted good, just like what you would get from food courts in Singapore. However, the quantity was lacking and the amount of chicken in the portion was pitiful at best.

All in all, we found the entire series of Ambassador Transit Lounges at Changi Airport to be found wanting. So far, we’ve have not had a totally satisfied experience at any of the Ambassador Transit Lounges. Hence, if you have only a priority pass to be used, do not waste it at Ambassador Transit Lounge. SATS Premier Lounge would be the top option with Marhaba Lounge being a close second.

Ambassador Transit Lounge is an extension of the Ambassador Transit Hotel. This is also why bedrooms and gymnasium are available (subject to payment) as these are facilities available to the hotel guests. First impressions of the lounge was a little dark. This could be due to the location next to the Sunflower Garden. As we were there in the evening, there was no natural light to illuminate the premise. The upside is that it is the only lounge with access outdoors – meaning you can get some fresh air, see the planes taxi on the tarmac or have a puff outdoors.

Upon entry into the lounge, you’ll be given these drink coupons…

We were given 4 coupons upon entry. Hence, with Priority Pass, you’re entitled to 4 alcholic drinks at Ambassador Transit Lounge. Probably a way for them to account for drinks and also deter patrons from over-consumption.

Food at Ambassador Transit Lounge T2 Singapore Changi Airport

Food wise, there was a small little buffet spread. However, the taste was lacklustre. The aglio olio was bland while the remaining accompanying dishes were really nothing to shout about.

Other than the buffet, there was a salad bar. We also noted that there were no bottles of mineral water available – probably due to the fight against single-use plastics.

Showers at Ambassador Transit Lounge T2 Singapore Changi Airport

As for the showers at Ambassador Transit Lounge, it was very clean and the towel was ready for the next patron. However, the water took a little while before it warmed up and the pressure was relatively low…

All in all, we wouldn’t recommend heading to Ambassador Transit Lounge. The food was a little disappointing and ambience was a little unwelcoming and dark at certain parts of the lounge at night. Also, no alcoholic drink consumption is allowed after 12am. The only plus point, probably for smokers, is the outdoor premise at the lounge.
