Driving from Danyang to Seoul South Korea

We left Danyang at 8am this morning and had breakfast at Chiak rest stop along the way…

As with all other rest stops along the way, we found them to be clean, spacious and convenient. Before we left Chiak, we also pumped petrol for 32,000krw. At Chiak rest station, there’s also a small park that depicted the legend of the man himself…

As we entered the vicinity of Seoul, we were caught in a jam – as expected. Thankfully, the Lord granted wisdom to Kate and she planned for us to return our car at Yangjae – the southern end of the city. If you’re returning your rental car after a drive from Danyang to Seoul, we would recommend returning at the AJ Rent-a-Car office at Yangjae Station. Since we were next to Yangjae Station, it was a short ride to Jungno station where our next hotel, Grid Hotel is within walking distance from.

Grid Inn Seoul was where we spent our remaining nights in South Korea. Though small, there was a window with street views, TV, fridge, bathroom and a comfortable bed. In South Korea, we also noticed that there would be harnesses in the room – in the event that you need to hook up and repel out of the window yourself. Yikes!

World Cup Stadium Seoul South Korea

After checking out our hotel, we headed to our first attraction in Seoul – the World Cup Stadium!

Built in 2002, the Seoul World Cup Stadium is shaped like a traditional Korean Kite. Today, it not only houses events but is also home to Spaland, Football Fantasium (a 2002 World Cup Museum) as well as a shopping mall – Home Plus!

Our FAVOURITEST Food in Seoul South Korea – Cheese Jjimdak Ewha

After visiting what Tom wanted to do, it was time to do what Kate wanted to do. Shopping! In Seoul, where else better to shop than near a Woman’s University? Ewha Woman’s University to be exact!

Ewha Woman’s University is a shopping district in itself. There are many shops that cater to the trends of the young as well as restaurants and cafes that suit their taste as well. This time, we walked the streets sandwiched between Sinchon Station and Ewha Woman’s University Station. Besides the shopping, one of our biggest food find of the ENTIRE trip has got to be the Cheese Jjimdak!

Jjimdak is actually a korean braised chicken dish. But we STRONGLY recommend the cheese version. For only 3,000krw more, you’ll have the cheese laden version that is chewy, stretchy and oh so delicious!

We also added dumpling into the Jjimdak which made it sooooo worth it! The dumpling itself (3,000krw) was delish and matched Singaporean taste as well…
