About Pratunam PLUS by Soi Thai Soi Nice

Pratunam PLUS is the Thai Street Food version of Soi Thai’s offerings. Touted as the restaurant that serves up “Crazy Delicious & Super Affordable Thai Street Food“, Pratunam PLUS caters to a younger and trendier clientele. Soi Thai Soi Nice on the other hand serves full dishes such as fish head hot pots, Tom Yum crabs, Thai-style chili lala and tofu crystal prawn. As you can see from the interior decor of Pratunam PLUS, the vibe is really quite different with the bold, bright colours and backsplashes that Kate loves…

What we had at Pratunam PLUS

Originally, we wanted to try some of the skewers at Pratunam PLUS. However, the Eatigo 50% discount only applies to sides and mains. Hence, we decided to go with Signature Dry Tom Yum Noodles ($7.90), Braised Pork Knuckle ($9.90) and Prawn Donut ($6.90) – which comes with a “MUST TRY!” recommendation. Check out the Pratunam PLUS menu here…

We also saw other patrons trying out Runny Omelette Prawn Fried Rice which looked really good. If you’ve tried it, let us know in the comments section below! We also decided to go “street” with the draft beer (which happens to be Sapporo at $5) and the iconic Thai Red Milk Tea

The draft beer was really refreshing. At $5, it was rather affordable but of course, the size is smaller, closer to half a pint. The Red Thai Milk Tea tasted as it should and with the vibe of the restaurant, really does transport you to the streets of Thailand. We also used these cute little mask holders to keep our masks…

First up, the braised pork knuckle

On first look, the portion was a little disappointing. There were only a few slices of the pork knuckle. It was more like pork trotters rather than the usual pork knuckle that we know. Probably a really small piggy here. However, after our initial disappointment, we did enjoy the braised pork. It was well-seasoned, infused and braised till they were so tender. The other side dishes of tofu and radish were soft as expected.

Next, the Prawn Donuts

The prawn donut was probably our favourite dish during this visit! At first, we thought it would be a couple of whole prawns inside. Turns out, the filling is a prawn mash that was sweet and taong. The magic was definitely the batter that made the outer layer crisp and when you chew it, there’s a nice crunch to it, as though it was fresh prawns, but better! Definitely a “must-try” as recommended by the restaurant.

Last but not least, the Signature Dry Tom Yum Noodles

This dish was absolute genius! You’d think that without the soup, the dish would lose its attractive tangy taste? Nope. Instead, the soup was concentrated and gently coats the noodles. We loved the spicy, tangy, sweet and sour-ish flavours all coming together. Almost like an explosion of flavours! Moreover, the minced meat, meat balls, crispy fried wanton and more crispy bits, added to the texture and overall taste of the noodles. A superb creation. Another “must-order” in our opinion!

All in all, we had a fantastic meal at Pratunam PLUS at Bugis+. Besides the slight disappointment from the braised pork knuckle, we totally enjoyed the prawn donut and the ingenious signature dry tom yum noodles. Washed down with the draft beer? Perfect!
