Cornell Hotel San Francisco: That Feeling of France…

Cornell Hotel San Francisco is a French boutique hotel located in the heart of San Francisco. With its individually decorated rooms, artistically furbished hallways and the sound of French tunes, guests are magically transported to the beautiful rive gauche of Paris. Thanks to the great folks at Cornell Hotel De France, we were hosted to an unforgettable stay at this unique French-inspired gem of San Francisco!

In the lobby of Cornell Hotel De France, you’ll be able to feel the flavours of France as you enter this boutique hotel. Cafe Jeanne D’Arc is a small lounge that provides guests with coffee and biscuits. Its decor resembles that of a typical cafe in the streets of Paris and it’s a place where you can chill and catch up over a cuppa.

Right opposite Cafe Jeanne D’Arc is another place for travellers to check some mails, read some magazines or simply rest in one of the comfortable sofas within…

And to illustrate the decoration as you enter the hotel, check out this statue of Joan of Arc (Jeanne D’Arc) in the lobby, next to the vintage elevator – complete with sliding scissor gate within!

The rooms of Cornell Hotel De France are individually decorated. This means that each room exudes its own authentic flavour of France. To up the ante, there’s even a resident painter that does the murals all around the hotel. Check out these murals found in our room…

There was a homely feel to our room. Bed was comfy and the lighting was calming. Though the pillow was slightly “flat”, that could be easily solved with additional pillows found in the room. What we love about the room are the furniture within. The bed and bedside table complemented each other with its off white colour. Which, also matched the secretary desk. Which, pulls out to reveal Kate’s favourite colour – mint!

Besides experiencing the flavours of France, Cornell Hotel really does have an excellent location as well. It is a mere 2 streets away from Union Square and Chinatown and within walking distance to the many shopping options along Market Street.

The resident restaurant of Cornell Hotel De France, Jeanne d’Arc Restaurant has won several accolades and was previously opened only to guests at the hotel. Now, with its renowned signature dessert of Grand Marnier Souffle and authentic French cuisine (think Duck Confit and Boeuf Bourguignon), fans and critics are won over daily!

As one of the most renowned French restaurant in San Francisco, Jeanne d’Arc Restaurant is also meticulously decorated with artwork and relics of Joan of Arc collected by the owners over the years…

We’ll leave you now with the contemporary breakfast that we had in the restaurant. Complimentary for guests staying at Cornell Hotel.

Breakfast is served daily from 730am and you can have choice of pan cakes, French toasts and eggs (scrambled, fried, poached, omelette). Coffee, tea and orange juice are also served. In addition, there’s a choice of breakfast cereals or cream of wheat (hot).
