Tom ABC Nasi Kandar was where we had breakfast while visiting Holiday Inn Little India. Located just across the road from Holiday Inn Little India, ABC Nasi Kandar is a nicely renovated coffeeshop that sells all cuisine that you’d expect from a 24-hours Muslim Indian restaurant. Think roti prata, roti john, butter chicken, naan, grilled tandoori chicken and more!

Inside ABC Nasi Kandar, you’ll find different “stalls” that offers prata, fried dishes as well as tandoori. However, do not be mistaken because all of them are from the same owner and you’ll be approached once seated to take your order. You may also asked for a menu once seated. This time, we chose to have butter chicken with garlic naan, masala thosai and teh tarik ($16.10). The waiting staff would then key your orders into their ipad and your orders would be put right through to the kitchen.
Before long, our orders were brought to us…
We found the butter chicken to tender while the gravy is thick, rich and flavourful. However, we found the colour to be a little too red and not as “yoghurty” as we would like. Not a typical butter chicken but still delicious – just beware of the reddish colour that would dye your lips. Moreover, the chicken had been “tandoori-ed”, granting a smoky flavour on each bite. The garlic naan on the other hand, was freshly made while our favourite was definitely the masala thosai. Fresh, crisp served in a generous size and delicious masala within made it a preferred breakfast item.
