The Pancake Manor in Brisbane has probably one of the best buttermilk pancakes in Brisbane. However, prior to our visit, Kate had seen several reviews citing issues with the service as well as the furniture within that have “withstood the test of time”. As a restaurant that opens 24 hours a day (24/7), Pancake Manor has been serving generations of Brisbane residents since it opened its doors in 1979.

About The Pancake Manor Brisbane

Pancake Manor is actually housed within a beautiful rustic building that was previously a cathedral. Known as St. Lukes Cathedral, it was completed in 1904 and opened to serve the congregation of St John’s Cathedral till 1910. The interior is marked by its magnificent arches and roof as you will see when you enter Pancake Manor.
The cathedral was refurbished to become The Pancake Manor in 1979. Today, it has taken a medieval feel to it with wooden chandeliers and knights in armour at its entrance. We actually like the ambience as we entered into The Pancake Manor…
The Pancake Manor Menu and Pancake Offerings

While The Pancake Manor offers many different types of pancakes, they also offer crepes, salads and grill items. Hence, if you’re tired of pancakes, you can have healthy options such as caesar and greek salads as well as grilled items such as ribeye steak and beef burger.
But of course, one is usually here for the pancakes and for their signature, they have tons of options as well. Besides the traditional but absolutely delicious buttermilk pancakes, they also serve up dessert pancakes such as strawberry patch, bananarama, macadamia madness and bavarian apple.
What We Had at The Pancake Manor Brisbane

After “analysing” the menu, we felt that going for the long stack of 4 buttermilk pancakes at $12.5 would be the most value-for-money. The buttermilk pancakes from the Pancake Manor comes with butter and maple syrup. During our order, we were actually surprised why the waiter would ask whether we wanted butter with the pancakes. YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THE BUTTER! The buttermilk pancakes at The Pancake Manor were probably the best we’ve ever had! It was warm, thick yet fluffy (how can it be?!) but yes, it was thick in volume yet fluffy in texture! This meant that the batter mix and the heat control must have been superb! The butter was slightly salted and the maple syrup was not too sweet and absolutely aromatic; together with the fluffy pancakes? EXCELLENT!
The other surprise was the Blackforest Cherry pancakes ($18.95) that came with cherries that were not too sweet and chocolate pancake. We also enjoyed the chocolate pancakes because they were, surprisingly, more like thin layers of brownies! The “sweetener” came from the ice cream which made the dish a nice little dessert.
But of course, our orders in all, made us real full! So full that we had trouble finishing up the Blackforest Cherry pancakes! Hence, for this order, it would be wise to have three or even four friends enjoying it together.

Overall, we didn’t think less of Pancake Manor because of the reviews that we had seen prior. The service was adequate and the furniture, though a little grimy, did have that rustic feel to it. But the star of the meal? Definitely the buttermilk pancakes! So light, so fluffy and so delectably delicious! You’ve got to try it to understand what we mean! I think we have said this but it is the best pancakes we’ve ever tried! Enjoy your next visit to Pancake Manor and let us know what you think in the comments section below!
