We started with a foot scrub in warm water before proceeding to the massage tables in the couple’s room. The masseuse were both professional and well-trained. From the strokes during this massage treatment as well as the management of towels (for warmth and privacy), we could tell that we were in good hands (pun intended!). In addition to the usual body massage, the treatment also included a mini face and head massage which rounded up this relaxing trip to Breeze Spa. Definitely one of the top treatments we’ve had in Asia (Bali included!). For the love birds, a couple’s jacuzzi is located right next to the massage table. During our stay, we were hosted at Amari Johor Bahru’s Junior Suite. At 51 square metres, the Junior Suite boasts of expansive views of the Johor Straits, a private balcony and also access to the exclusive Executive Lounge at level 20.
Of course, the other premium that the Junior Suite affords is space. Definitely lots of space if you love prancing around the room like us! 😛

Breakfast at Executive Lounge Amari JB
For breakfast at the Executive Lounge, besides a small buffet spread, you’ll also be able to have a personalised ala carte breakfast. On our second morning, we tried out the Eggs Royale and Banana French Toast…
We loved the Eggs Royale with its combination of textures and flavours from the salmon, mushrooms and onions. The toast was fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outsidew. Yum! It’s a pity though that eggs benedict was not available at the Executive Lounge. Perhaps, the next time when we’re there, Eggs Benedict would be available! Nope, the eggs above were not poached 🙁
At the buffet breakfast area, salads, pastries, cereals and coffee (latte/cappuccino) are available. There’s even a selection of local delights such as porridge, nasi lemak and fried kway teow! The nasi lemak and fried kway teow were really really (yes, see the excellent description used?) good. Kudos to the chef!
From 5pm to 7pm daily, Amari Johor Bahru’s Executive Lounge holds the cocktail hour with complimentary drinks (alcoholic/non-alcoholic) and a wide selection of food (not just finger foods)…

Unlike many other hotel cocktail hours we’ve been to, Amari Johor does it right. Not only does it serve an extensive menu of drinks (including red/white wines, beers, cocktail & sake?!), the food options are not only limited to “hors d’oeuvre”, it was an all out meal! There was salads, mains, finger foods, pastries and even desserts! :O

There are three main dining options at Amari Johor Bahru. Amaya Food Gallery is the main restaurant where meals are served throughout the day. Amaya Cafe is where you can enjoy cakes, drinks and the delectable afternoon tea set. For a venue to chill out in the evenings, Dip Bar by the pool serves up drinks, canapes and appetizers as you enjoy the city skyline…
During our stay at Amari Hotel, we enjoyed a buffet dinner at Amaya Food Gallery. Also a signature of Amari Hotels, the Amaya Food Gallery is a restaurant with emphasis on local street foods as well as the open kitchen/live cooking concepts. This provides a interactive cooking experience for diners at Amari Johor Bahru 😉
To top things off, there was a live band performance, singing contemporary hits. The ambience was immediately livened with this band playing in the background. Awesome singing guys!

Breakfast at Hotel Amari JB
Besides having breakfast at the Executive Lounge, we also had the option of having breakfast at Amari Johor Bahru’s Amaya Food Gallery. These were some of the food on offer at Amaya’s breakfast buffet…
Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet spread at Amari over the two mornings. As the price of stay at Amari Johor includes this breakfast buffet, it makes the stay here that much more worthwhile.
In and Around Johor Bahru Amari Hotel
As mentioned right at the start of this post, besides the enjoyable stay at the hotel itself, it is also a springboard to all the attractions and foodie joints in Johor Bahru!
With easy access to popular food joints at Jalan Wong Ah Fook, trendy cafes at Jalan Dhoby/Tan Hiok Nee and walking distance to shopping options at City Square Mall and Komtar JBCC, Amari Hotel JB is definitely a great base for visits around Johor Bahru!
How to Get to Amari Johor Bahru Hotel
Although Amari Johor is conveniently located opposite Komtar JBCC, it will make it easier if you follow our instructions here…
Cross this traffic light right behind Komtar JBCC. Make sure to wait for the green man to come on and all the cars to stop before crossing.
After you cross the traffic light, turn right and you’ll see the restaurant Morganfield’s. Here, you have two options to reach Amari Hotel. For the first option, you can take the lift (see 2nd grey pillar in picture above) just next to Morganfield’s restaurant up to level 6. That is where the restaurant Amaya Food Gallery is (see lift entrance above at level 6). Walk through the restaurant and you’ll reach the lobby of Amari Johor Bahru.
The second option is to walk through the shopping mall entrance next to Morganfield’s. Follow the signs up a flight of escalator and walk through the sliding doors next to 7-11 and make a left turn. You’ll then arrive at the concierge (level 1) of Amari JB. At the lift, head up to level 6 and you’ll arrive at the lobby where you can check in to Amari Hotel Johor Bahru.
